To the TWU Local 591 Membership:
On behalf of the Local 591 Executive Board, I want to extend our best wishes to you and your family for a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and a pleasant holiday season. We hope you are able to spend meaningful time with those most important to you.
I would also like to thank all of our Chairmen, Chairwomen, Coordinators, Peer-Support Reps, Safety Reps, and Stewards for their exceptional work supporting our Membership over this past year. Their efforts supported the success of your Executive Board, and they have ensured Members are well represented and safe, even when their contributions sometimes aren't always visible.
In the coming weeks, I plan to provide you my annual comprehensive Local 591 Year in Review letter. In the meantime, I would like to highlight a few pertinent updates. This year, our Local welcomed over 400 new Local 591 Members across the system. At the same time, our overall Membership figures have remained relatively steady, as a significant number of our Members have also retired. We extend a warm welcome to new Local 591 Members and offer sincere gratitude and congratulations to this year's retirees.
Looking ahead to the negotiations scheduled for 2027, the upcoming year will be pivotal in fostering unity throughout all 26 stations of our Local 591 family. Staying informed is essential to strengthening unity. To support our Members in remaining up to date, the Executive Board already provides weekly reports every Friday on the conference call to representatives across the nation, which are then summarized and published as podcast videos on our YouTube page. The most recent videos are also available on Local591.com's homepage, along with an archive link to all of the past podcasts. Additionally, our live-streamed National Membership Meetings, held twice monthly, are experiencing growing on-line participation nationwide. Check the Local591.com homepage for the meeting and zoom link info. Please try to attend or watch the meetings to remain informed of the Local’s happenings.
Finally, Local 591 remains committed to supporting our Members while maintaining fiscal responsibility. In addition to the Labor Day shirt this year, Members will receive a black hoodie jacket and pocket calendars; distribution for these items is currently underway or will commence shortly at your station. For the upcoming year, Local 591 also plans to provide ID lanyards, three new different shirts, and also a track jacket at various times throughout the year. To help facilitate accurate ordering, please ensure your shirt and jacket sizes are current on your Local 591 website registration, as this information is used during the ordering process.
